The Sony BDP-CX7000ES and BDP-CX960 are BD (Blue Ray Disc) Mega-Changers. A product which is first in its class of Mege-Changers and a much needed product in the over-all scheme of multi-level systems utilizing a changer as its means of movie storage. The BDP-CX7000 ES and BDP-CX960 will store and play up to a combination of 400 Blu-ray discs, standard DVDs and or CDs. Sony also plans to introduce the model BDP-S1000ES, (not shown) a single disc player with built-in WiFi capability. Both MegaChanger models will feature a USB 2.0 Port and Ethernet connections with the former supporting wired (or wireless with an optional adapter) Internet access and BD-Live capability and will include the ability to download information from Gracenote's Music ID and VideoID service to organize movies and music. When the disc is inserted into the player, the Gracenote system automatically downloads information across an existing broadband service and saves title, director, some cast information, release year and genre information for most titles. All three Models output video in Hi-Def formats, including Full HD 1080 / 60p and 24p True Cinema, and support 7.1 channel Dolby-trueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-HD high resolution audio decoding and bit-stream output as well as x.v.Color technology.
Models BDP-CX7000ES and BDP-S1000ES add 7.1 channel analog outputs, support Deep Color via HDMI and include Sony's Precision Cinema HD up-scaling technology, which upscales video to 1080p format when connected to a 1080p display via HDMI.. The BDP-CX960 (shipping in fall 2009) suggested retail of $800.00, the BDP-CX7000ES suggested retail of $1900.00 and the single disc BDP-S1000ES with suggested retail of $700.00 U.S.D.
