    VOOM ..... Goes Dark    May 2005         

    The High Definition Satellite Service "VOOM" went dark on April 30, 2005. It's holding company has sold the rights of use on 10 of its 21 channels to the DISH Network Satellite and has commitment on the remaining 11 to DISH by 2006. Dish has added the RushHD, GalleryHD, RaveHD, UltraHD, EquatorHD, MonstersHD, AnimaniaHD, MajesticHD, HDNews, and GuyTV-HD to it lineup of HDNet, HDNet-Movies, ESPNHD, DiscoveryHD Theater, TNT in HD which are a $9.99 per month package. DISH also supports HBO HDTV, SHOWTIME HDTV, HD PayperView. All newcomers were added on May 1, 2005.
